Design + Property

With a degree in Architecture from Queen’s University, Belfast, I have worked in the construction industry for over 25 years in both large and small architectural practices in Belfast and London including the Consarc Design Group and Hall Black Douglas. I also have a Diploma in Business Strategy from the University of Ulster and I spent four years as the Business Manager of a computer services company just to try something different.

For the last 15 years I have pursued a parallel career in property development in my spare time, developing four properties of my own, three of which I still own and rent out. I am always looking for development opportunities and when I was made redundant in 2009, I sought to combine my construction and property development experience with my business skills.

I have now taken over an established architectural practice from the retiring principal where the workload is mainly residential together with some commercial and community projects. I am seeking to develop the practice, combining it with my established property development business, aiming to provide a range of services to the small property investor or private client.

My other passion is for classic cars. I started out with an old MGB GT and having owned several Audi Quattros, a couple of Porsches and a convertible Mercedes along the way, my current toy is another Porsche 911!

• Site sourcing and analysis, including remodelling and reconfiguration of existing buildings
• Scheme design through to submission of planning drawings
• Working drawing production and obtaining building control approval
• Preparation of specifications and schedules
• Project management on site, including liaising with contractor and professional consultants
• Contract supervision through to handover
